Hi ladies and welcome back to a special episode of the Isn't She Powerful podcast. Today I have with me one of my past seismic shift clients. Her name is Amy, and she has such an incredible story. And what I want you to feel from her is like the kindness and the genuine person that she is. I hope that what Amy shares with you in this episode is gonna bring you some hope. In this episode, Amy talks about her experience in Size Make Shift, but she shares a lot of little golden nuggets of things that she's done to improve. She shares some things that she's done whenever she's gone out that have made such a difference for her and staying consistent when she goes to parties or when she goes to restaurants. She shared what's helping her be consistent with exercise and with drinking her water, and she's really shared some like really good little nuggets in this episode. So I hope that you listen and pick those out and start to apply some of those things. Amy was somebody who she tried so many diets. She actually was um doing Optavia for a while and had become a health coach for Optivia, but you'll hear her say at the beginning, she just it was to the point where she was like, you can't live on powdered foods alone. She was like, I'm missing out on life, and I'm tired of missing out on life and time with my family and time with my friends because I'm so worried about food. And she felt like something was wrong with her because she just couldn't stick to all of these diets that she'd tried in the past. She said she lived from a place of deprivation where she felt like she was always depriving herself of experiences and of foods and of time with people that she loved because she was scared and because of her quote unquote health goals that she wanted to meet, and she felt like this was the way to do that. She says that she was an emotional eater, and in this, she's gonna talk about how food no longer controls her. She has a much, much, much healthier relationship with food now. She's down 10 pounds in just eight weeks through being in seismic shift, and she, and you're gonna hear her say it, she is not obsessed with the scale anymore. She only stepped on the scale twice and has been down that weight. Not obsessing over that number made such a difference for her. She's had incredible mindset shifts, and she actually believes in herself now. It was one of those things where she tried all these diets and she was so scared to sign up for seismic shift because she was like, what if this is not gonna work out for me? What if, you know, Laura's just blowing smoke? But it really worked for her, and now she believes in herself, and that's because she took a chance on herself. And I'm telling you, I don't have everybody on the podcast, and that's not because everybody who joins my program doesn't have incredible results. It's because not everybody's comfortable coming onto a podcast and sharing their story. But those that are are here and they're telling you what an amazing experience it was. She's now spending time with her family more, she's now eating with them more and really just being present in the moment with them. Her family, her grandchildren that she watches after, her mother, who she helps take care of, her family that she spends all of her time with, they're eating healthier now and they're being more consistent with their own health goals as well. She no longer has cravings, she understands her triggers for cravings when they pop up and she knows how to handle them in the moment. And these are the things that she's gonna share with you in this episode and that you can have too. Seismic shift is currently enrolling, and I've made some updates to the program. The program now has four main components. Each week inside of the program, you get access to weekly goals. There are two different versions of these goals, starter and advanced. So you get to choose which one feels right for you that meets you exactly where you are in your own journey. There are nutrition, exercise, and water goals every single week. And I've designed these goals to be a progressive overload of your current lifestyle, which means that I am taking you from that point of being lost and confused, unsure of if this is exactly what you should be doing, is this the right move to be making? Is this the thing that you should be focused on? From being lost and confused, each week you are going to get one new small thing to add into your lifestyle. That way, by the time you exit Seismic Shift, you have genuinely changed your lifestyle, but that didn't happen overnight. It happened progressively over time so that it was actually something you could sustain, something that actually worked with you and was flexible enough for you to be able to stick to it long term. That is the ultimate goal. You also have recipes as a huge part of this program. All of the recipes have been vetted by me, an integrative nutrition health coach, someone who actually knows what they're doing to be well-balanced meals. They have enough protein, fiber, fat in them so that you feel full and satisfied all day. The food noise goes away, you're not hungry all the time, you feel like you are actually making progress, you're seeing the scale change, you are doing everything that you said you wanted to be doing, but the guesswork is taken out of it, and so is all of that tedious time that you currently are spending looking at recipes and figuring out which one you should be doing, and is this right? And does this have enough protein in it? And all the all those questions you have, I'm handling it all for you. You just have to actually show up and do the work. There's also two other components to this, both of them are live components. There are group coaching calls and a group coaching chat. Both of those are live. You get time with me to have your questions answered to make sure everything that you need to know and everything that you don't even realize you need to know is being answered so that this truly becomes the lifestyle change that you have been searching for for so long. Everything is open right now. You can head on down to the show notes, go to behealthyhabits.com slash seismic dash shift, or head down to the show notes, look at the link that I have down there. You can click it, read through everything, and if you have any questions, you want to chat it out with me, you know where to find me at Laura B Healthy on every social media platform. I would love to chat with you. Now, with all of that being said, I want you to hear Amy's story so that you can feel the inspiration and the knowledge and get some nuggets that you can take away and start applying to your own life. Let's get into it. Welcome to the Isn't She Powerful Podcast. I'm your host, Laura B, health coach, educator, and founder of the Be Healthy Lifestyle. I'm here to bring you all the health education and motivation so that you can sign off each week feeling equipped and empowered to tap all of your health goals. Come along with me as I teach you the basics of healthy living so that you can help everyone. So, isn't she powerful? Hi, Amy. Welcome to the Isn't She Powerful Podcast. Thanks for joining us.
SPEAKER_00So good to see you. So good to be here.
SPEAKER_01It's so good to see you too, Amy, and to see how successful you've been over the last couple of months since being off of Seismic Shift, being in it and being off of it now, and you know, being on the other side of it and doing all this on your own. I'm so excited to get to talk about how you've not only gotten healthy, but now you're staying healthy. And I can't wait to get to share that experience with so many people. So tell me a little bit. I want to start like before, before you joined Seismic Shift, what were some of the things that you were doing? What were some of the diets that you tried, some of the things that you were doing to try to get healthy?
SPEAKER_00I tried just about all of them, only not to be successful. I was searching for a quick fix. I actually did a program and I became a health coach and I lost weight and I felt good about myself. But the reality is you can't just live on powdered food and shakes. You when I saw you and your recipes, it was what I was looking for. I was looking for reality, like real food, because what I was doing before is not longevity, it's temporary fix, but you're going to go back to old habits. With you, I didn't join the first time. I went again and I had a friend tell me, Remember what we talked about, she said. You're either doing it or you're not. And when my friend reminded me of those things we had discussed, I said, That's it. I'm in. I'm all in. Because right now I'm thinking I can do it by myself and I haven't. And I've always attacked myself. I always felt like it was me. I couldn't lose weight because of me. I didn't wasn't doing enough. And I lived in deprivation. I deprived myself of so much until I found you. And I learned that that did not do a thing for me. So I used to be an emotional eater. When things got bad, things that I couldn't control, I would go for immediate gratification, immediate eating, and then I felt so bad about myself. And now I'm not doing any of that, and I am facing some really emotional things, and I am staying healthy because I learned from you to be devoted to me. If I'm not devoted to me, I can't help others. Yes. So I learned all of this. I learned so much with seismic shift. I learned about sleep. It wasn't just about the food, it was about the total meat. I learned how to prepare myself for sleep. I learned about my cravings. I learned why I was craving. Rather than beating myself, oh, now I had an awareness so I could fix it. I was not having enough protein for breakfast. Yeah. Imagine that, a quick fix like that. So I learned that I need my protein and I balance my protein with my carbs, I know about fiber. And everywhere I go now, it's crazy because I visualize my plate.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I love it.
SPEAKER_00So no matter where I go, a restaurant, a party, whatever, I always say, what did we say your plate looks like? And now it has become me. So whether it's breakfast, lunch, snack, and my snacks are always healthy. There's nothing unhealthy anymore. I have balance. And I am now all in. I'm all from me. I'm devoted to me because I love myself enough to be devoted. Food no longer controls me. When I go to a party, I visualize my plate and I am celebrating people. I'm not celebrating food anymore. I was always so worried about, oh, what are they gonna have to eat? Oh, I can't wait. Now it's who am I gonna see? Who I haven't seen in a while. So it's all about people, it's celebrating the event, not the food. So food is no longer important, and I learned another thing. I was always about the scale. If the scale didn't move, I was not successful. Well, you know, I put that scale under my dresser, and I no longer worry about the scale because I feel good and I I feel healthy, and I can tell by my feelings and my clothes that what I'm doing is successful. So I may pull out the scale once a month, and that is just a number, that does not determine my health. So I have learned so much that I can take with me every day, no matter where I go. If I know I'm going to an appointment, I bring things with me that are balanced that I can eat. I never go unprepared anymore. No more. It has helped me so much, so much, and my focus is on healthy choices and movement. I know you and I discussed so many times about me babysitting. Well, when am I supposed to exercise? And you would tell me, find those moments. So I am constantly moving, I'm dancing with the girls, I am moving in my rocker, I am lifting my legs, I'm getting on the floor, I am forever in motion versus forever sitting. So I am moving all day long now. My girls love it, and they're both two, so we're having fun, and I am moving. I have not had any struggles learning about my whole self because with your program, it's not just about food, it's about mindset, and if you don't change the way you think, and I loved what you said. You said what you believe is what you receive, and I'd never forgot that. So we I believe now that I'm going to be healthy, and I believe now that I can do it, and I am doing it, and it has become easy, it has become a part of my life because I took the challenge on. I listened to every week what you said, and every week I build upon the next week, and it's like I couldn't wait, I couldn't wait for the next week to learn something else, especially when we talked about sleep and about our emotions, like how to control stress, all those different things. It it has just been truly amazing.
SPEAKER_01Well, Amy, I think we can wrap the episode up right there. You just you just sold people. They're gonna be like, let me in there. That was that was so sweet of you to say all that stuff. And I can tell how genuine you are when you say it too, though. It's not just like you're like, oh, Laura invited me on the podcast, let me say all these great things. You actually have taken all of this and you've shown up, you've really applied this stuff. And it's not just like you're sitting here, you know, learning these things, you're applying them in your everyday life and you're seeing how beneficial it is. I love that you, there's so many things that I loved about what you said just then. But one is like you're able to apply what we talk about when you go out to restaurants, when you're at parties, not just when you're at home, but when you're out of the home as well. And I think that's truly such a blessing. Like you said, you're now able to be so present. You're not worried about food, you're not worried about how it's going to impact the scale. You're present, you're in the moment. And that that I'm sure feels like a blessing.
SPEAKER_00It is. And that to know that I have to add color to my plate. And being in South Louisiana, we would do a lot of gumbos and crab balls and you know, all that. So now I'm adding healthy vegetables to the boil. Now, if I have my and now I know how much to eat of my gumbo, but I would never add a vegetable with my little bowl of gumbo. Now I have my vegetable, I have my meat, I have my pork, I know how to eat, and adding color to the plate has just been so awesome.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00To know how to eat and what to eat. And everywhere I go, I truly visualize my plate and the meal planning, knowing what you're gonna eat every week before the week starts, it just sets you up for success. Because before I did that, I would just eat on a whim, and now my grandkids are eating healthy along with my husband and I.
SPEAKER_01I love that.
SPEAKER_00So the whole family's eating healthy, and like my snacks, I know the true fruit with you. Oh my, I love that. But I was at first I was eating on a whole bag, and I'm like, oh that's not what she said. And so I would have to go back and I now add it to my Greek yogurt, and I add just a sprinkle, one or two, and I cut them up. I've learned consistency, I've learned control, and the spikes and your blood sugar and all that, everything you taught us made total sense and we felt it. If we did bad in the past, if I did bad, I would stay a whole week. Oh, well, I'm messed up, let me just keep eating. Now, if I made, and it's not never a bad choice, if I made an unhealthy choice, then the next meal I'm making the healthy choice. So I get right back on track because you will slip up. It's like you will, or you may forget to bring something, or you might eat a little bit more of something, but with your program, I am not depriving myself. And deprivation prior made me overeat. This way I'm not overeating, I can have the things I like, but in moderation. So it has been like wonderful.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and I I really like too that you were like, I I tried to do it on my own before. You had tried many times to do this on your own, and that was almost why you didn't join seismic shift, because you were like, No, I know what I should be doing. I'm just I need to just do it on my own. And now you realize, like, gosh, I was trying to do it on my own, but the reason it wasn't sticking was because you didn't have the proper mindset, and even though you knew what to do, now you actually know what to do. Like all those things that you thought you knew, first of all, some of them weren't true or accurate, and now it's like uh you have so much more knowledge, and you're able to apply that. And that I think makes such a difference.
SPEAKER_00It did because I just thought, so seismic ship is just like the rest I've tried. Boy, was I mistaken. It has been the wealth of information to set yourself up for success that you can go on with on and on and on and on every day. And each week, everything we learned, I would put into practice. And I think that's what made me successful. I didn't wait. So as I learned it, I did it and became part of my life. And each week it would build, and then by the eighth week, I was doing everything. So, and you know, like I still struggle with my water, but that's okay. I am now drinking more water than I ever drank before on a daily basis. So as long as I can drink half my body weight, I'm I'm good and I'm doing it. I am reaching the goals most days. So that would be, I would say like my only struggle, but I am aware of my struggle and I'm aware how to fix it. So that's the difference.
SPEAKER_01I mean, think about if th three or four months ago when you signed up, if you would have known that by this point you would be saying, like, oh, I my only struggle is that I'm not drinking enough water, man, how cool would that have been to know that, right? It's like, were was there any part of you that felt fear when you were signing up? Or did you have the fear of like, what if I'm signing up for something else and it's and Laura is, you know, not all that she says in seismic shift actually isn't gonna help me. Like, did you have any fear about signing up?
SPEAKER_00Of course, because of past experiences, all my past experiences became failures after a while. And so I thought this was just gonna be like the rest. But you're teaching the way you bring the program to us, and you're so genuine, you're so honest, and you allow us all to talk. We learn so much from each other, and you're always so kind, and you never ever, ever say anything negative to us. It's okay you tell us, you can fix it, and you tell us how to fix it. So I never got on a zoom and felt like, oh gosh, if I confess to her this week what happened, she's gonna say this, this, and that. No, you were always supportive, you always gave us ways to achieve, and that in itself, for those of us that struggled and feel bad about ourselves, we no longer felt bad. Because in the whole group, these were all ladies I did not know. We were all from all different states, and I felt so comfortable with every single lady in the group that we could just share whatever, and like we're still sharing recipes and so forth, and like we're still talking even after the program is over. So it has been wonderful, truly wonderful. So if there's anybody out there, I'm in my 60s, and I'm not afraid to say my age because I'm glad. With every day I get. So if you are hesitant or you struggle like I have, I was overweight nearly all my life. And I am seeing such a positive difference that seismic shift was a godsend to me. It has helped me, it has changed me. I know how to fix things. I can almost and I know my triggers. My triggers are things I can't control. So if I'm in a situation where I can't control things, I know how to fix it. I'll breathe, I'll leave, I'll exercise, I'll go move, I'll do something other than eat. I re not resort to eating. So I have other strategies that help me right now. So food is food is necessary for life. It's not something you use for emotions. And I I learned that. It is there to sustain us as a body. And it's not there to abuse or overeat. And I've learned I've learned all of that. And I'm just a different person now since seismic shift. Totally different. You know, like I know my sleep routine. The things I learned about sleep because I couldn't sleep. And now I'm sleeping, but you taught me how to sleep. Even sleeping, you know, and stress management and cravings. It's just so much. It's so much more than just food.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think back to the person, Amy, that you were, like when we first met each other, that first call you and I had together. And to know who you are right now, it's night and day difference. The things that you struggled with then, those are aren't even things that bother you anymore. But something that you said though really stood out to me. And you're like, on those, I'm not scared to come to Laura and say, I'm struggling with this, or this was challenging for me. I think that's important because people coming into this, I don't want anybody to come in thinking, well, I'm not gonna struggle anymore. There are gonna be days when it's challenging, like you had challenging days and times in the program, and there were days that you were like, you know, I'm sure that you felt like, what am I doing? Is this gonna work? And you know, I'm sure you felt discouraged at times, but you kept showing up and you still showed up for yourself in your day-to-day life, and that's ultimately what made the big difference for you. And I'm glad to know that you never felt judged or or worried or were scared to say anything.
SPEAKER_00Never, never.
SPEAKER_01Now, you did mention earlier though, um, about the scale, and you're like, hey, yeah, I put the scale away, but you have stepped on the scale, and the scale is down, yes.
SPEAKER_00Yes, 10 pounds, and I went now from a back to my size large, I'm back into a medium. Oh my god, my pants are getting loose. My pants are getting loose, but I'm exercising, I'm eating right, and so I'm down 10 pounds. Wow, Amy, that's incredible.
SPEAKER_01Yes, that's better than I realized. That is so exciting, and to know that that happened without you being so obsessed with the number. Did do you think that that putting the scale away helped you lose that weight?
SPEAKER_00It definitely did because every time I would get on the scale, if there was no progress, I felt defeated. So I got rid of the scale, and I actually put it underneath my dresser in the bedroom. Yeah. And I pull it out maybe once a month, but that scale is not that scale, it is not important to me anymore. The way I feel, the way my clothes fit, and my habits and my mindset are all that that scale was just a number.
SPEAKER_01Yep. And it still is, even though it's going down, it's still just a number.
SPEAKER_00It is because you could be the smallest person but still be unhealthy. Yes. So I, you know, I look at it like that. So it regardless, you want to sustain your body, you want to be healthy. So if you're not giving it proper nutrition, that scale doesn't matter because health is wealth.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. And you've been doing it on your own now since seismic shift ended, which has been about a month ago, a little over a month ago. You've been doing it on your own, and you've continued to be consistent. Like you feel like the things you learn in seismic shift are completely sustainable.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it is a part of my day. It is a part of every week. I'm meal plan every Sunday for the week. I know what I'm eating, and I exercise, I write it down, I do my goals still weekly. We do our goals, I still do it. I have a piece of paper and I still do my goals. So, I mean, I set goals every week and I'm hitting them all. Every week I make sure that you know, and if I don't, I ask myself why? Why didn't I meet this goal? Because it's gonna happen. So then I go back and I revisit what happened or what caused me to maybe not to meet that goal, and then I do adjustments and then I meet the goal. So, but it's been a whole lifestyle change.
SPEAKER_01I can change I can tell that you you soaked up everything. I mean, like, were there any weeks that you weren't able to come? I think there were, right? And did you go back and watch replays?
SPEAKER_00Two. There were there were two due to my grandson's baseball games and football games, and then I actually missed the last class. I thought so. And I was so upset.
SPEAKER_01I know, yes, but you know what?
SPEAKER_00I missed two, I missed two or three.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but you know what? Like you weren't able to come to some of them and still saw this progress. There's only eight classes, and you missed two of them, so you only came to six of the eight. I mean, and to know that you still had this much progress, I think that's another fear that people have is that they'll have to miss something, and then if they're if they're gonna be out of town for one of the weeks or something, then then it's not worth it for them to sign up. But that's not at all the case.
SPEAKER_00No, and I actually did the replay when you posted the replay. I actually did the replay within two to three days. So I made sure I wasn't missing it. So when I would get once all the grandbabies left and everything, and I attended to my dog, everything, then I did meet. So I made sure that I did that.
SPEAKER_01Good.
SPEAKER_00And I'm also doing like my exercise. I am exercising every day, rather, if it's nine o'clock at night, five in the morning, all day, in between the days, I'm moving. Yeah, I'm moving.
SPEAKER_01And it's making it's it's clearly paying off for you. The mindset, the the the knowledge that you now have, and having that community with the other people in the group and having me there to support you clearly made such a difference for you, Amy. Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I I I have a feeling that this is gonna give some people hope.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I hope it does because I was very hesitant. And this, I'm telling you, you were a godsend, you're my angel. So I found you for a reason, and it's to get myself back on track. I saw a quote it's something that is sustainable.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I saw a quote once and it said something like, When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. So you were ready, and I came to you somehow through social media. God, like you said, God put me in your life, and and for anybody listening, if God put me in your ears, there's probably a reason for it. So I'm glad that you listened to that. And don't wait.
SPEAKER_00And the only regret I have is I waited. I should have joined the first time.
SPEAKER_01Well, you know what? You were in the right group for you, you were in the right place at the right time for you.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Oh, yes, those ladies are amazing. Yes. Yeah. I can't thank you enough. And if there's anybody out there that is debating, don't debate, just do it.
SPEAKER_01Thank you for saying that. Ladies, once again, if you listen to this and you resonate with anything that Amy said or any of my past clients who you have heard their stories on my podcast, I will link all of those in the show notes below so you can go check those out. But if you resonate with anything that was talked about in this episode, I would love nothing more than to get to support you through your own health goals inside of Seismic Shift. The spring round is currently enrolling. And if you want to talk it out or you have any questions, you have some fears and concerns coming up, you're not sure if you're the right fit for it, send me a message on Instagram or shoot me an email, Laura at Behealthyhabits.com. And always remember the more you know, the more you grow.
