Have you ever read something about yourself and thought… “wait, that’s scarily accurate?”

That’s exactly how I felt when I started diving into my Human Design.

In this On My Sleeve episode, I’m giving you a behind-the-scenes look at what Human Design is, how it works (in a simple, non-overwhelming way), and what I’ve personally learned about myself through exploring my own chart.

This isn’t a super technical or deep-dive episode, but it is a really fun and eye-opening conversation that might just help you understand yourself on a whole new level.

Whether you’re someone who loves personality tools or you’re just curious about why you think, feel, and operate the way you do… this episode will open the door for you to explore.

In this episode, I share:

  • What Human Design actually is (in simple terms)
  • How it combines different systems to create a personalized blueprint
  • Key insights I learned about myself from my own Human Design
  • The ways it’s helped me better understand my habits, energy, and decision-making
  • Why this tool can be powerful when it comes to self-awareness and growth

Why this matters for your health journey:

The more you understand yourself, the easier it becomes to:

  • Make decisions that actually feel aligned
  • Stop forcing routines that don’t work for you
  • Build habits that fit you instead of fighting against you
  • Quiet the mental noise around “what you should be doing”

Because lasting change does NOT come from doing what works for everyone else. It comes from understanding what works for you.

Hey ladies, and welcome back to another episode of the Isn't She Powerful Podcast. This is the monthly on my sleeve episode for the podcast, and this month I'm going to be talking about my human design. If you've never heard of that, I want you to think about those personality tests that we used to take, you know, like where you had to figure out am I an INFJ or an EFTP? I don't remember what all of the letters were, but you had to figure out that, or maybe you've been to something where they're like, are you a bear or an owl or whatever else? Like there's all those different personality tests. It kind of also reminds me of those tests that used to be in the magazines where you would figure out, you know, what type of side table am I, and like the silly stuff. But the human design is a little bit more specific than that. So the way that it works is you have to say, you I did it in an app. It's called a line, I believe is what the app is called. And you put in your birthday, the act the exact day that you were born, and the exact time. So whatever like is on your birth certificate, the exact time that you were born, and where you were born. So it's something about, and listen, I am not gonna pretend to be an expert about this. I started looking at this like a week ago, okay? So I'm not an expert in it, but looking at it did give me a little bit of validation, and I'm gonna talk about that more in just a minute. But essentially, it figures out where was the moon in relation to where you were whenever you were born and all of this stuff, and it helps you figure out more about your personality, what type of person you are. And I started looking into it and I was like, wow, this stuff actually does sound just like me. And it's one of those things where it's not like I learned about this and then I made my personality align with it, but I learned about this stuff after, you know, obviously being myself, and so then I was able to be like, okay, that is me, and this does feel validating to hear that this is me, and it's not as you know, like the horoscope things where it's like it can be, or or I feel like whenever you're looking at your sign, I can't remember what that is even called, you know, like I'm I'm a Scorpio, so when you're looking at your sign, then sometimes it's such vague stuff that you're like, of course that resonates with you. But this is very specific stuff that I'm like, yeah, this is me. So, anyways, with that being said, I'm gonna talk about my human design today. And I want you to understand what your human design may be if you want to look it up after this. So let's go on and let's dig into it. Welcome to the Isn't You Powerful Podcast. I'm your host, Laura B, health coach, educator, and founder of the Be Healthy Lifestyle. I'm here to bring you all of the health education and motivation so that you can sign off each week feeling equipped and empowered to tackle all of your health goals. Come along with me as I teach you the basics of healthy living so that you can have everyone in your life safe. Isn't she powerful? Okay, so there are 13 different little sections in this app that tell me more about my human design. And I'm gonna go through some of the highlight ones. I'm not gonna talk about every single one of them because I haven't dug into every single one of them and fully understand all of them, but I want to talk about some of them and what I learned through this. What I will say is, like I said at the very beginning, looking at this gave me so much validation about who I am and the way that I feel. Because I feel like for there's some things about myself that I felt bad about that I didn't like about myself, or that I made myself feel like they weren't good qualities to have, or something was wrong with me because I looked at life this particular way. And doing this human design showed me that nothing's wrong with me. This is just the way that I am as a human. This is literally who I am and the way that God designed me to be. My mom was pregnant with me two weeks after she was supposed to give birth. So, like the due date for me was sometime in October, and I wasn't born until November 4th. So she had me in her belly for much longer than the doctors originally said that she was supposed to. And they also had to like literally go in and suck me out of my mom, which is super funny because if I am like comfortable on the couch or in the bed, I ain't getting up. I am not moving my body, I'm just gonna be right where I am. Like getting myself off the couch to go to bed at night is the most painful experience of the day every single day. And I feel like that was my destiny because I had to literally be sucked out of my mom. And anyways, why why I was telling you that is because I feel like God pulled me out of my mom at that specific day and time because this was the human I was designed to be. I was designed to be the person who had all of these qualities. If I had been born that whenever my mom, the doctors had said that I was gonna be born, I would have different qualities. If I would have stayed in until I don't know if I would have ever been able, been ready to come out of my mom, but if they wouldn't have sucked me out at that particular time, I might not be who I am today. Okay. So, anyways, I do feel like you have to take some of this stuff with a grain of salt, obviously. Like I fully believe in God, and a lot of times I think people, when it comes to stuff like this, astrology, human design, whatever it may be, people think that you can't believe in that and believe in God. But I believe God is the handler of all of these things, you know what I mean? Like, I believe that God is the reason why I have this human design. So, anyways, all of that out of the way, I want to tell you a little bit about me, and then I encourage you to look yourself up. I went in and we found out exactly the day and time and everything that Shane was born. We put that into my app as well, and we were able to see his human design, and then it was really interesting to connect the dots between us as a couple and really see like where where why we interact the way that we do sometimes with each other because of our human design. So, anyways, the very first thing that I want to talk about is my quote unquote energy type, and like I really don't know all of the different options, but I know that I am a generator. I do know that manifesting generator is also one. Um, and then there's also one where it's like a reflector or something like that. That's not the right word. So I'm not gonna talk about what I know because I don't know a lot. I'm just gonna talk about me. Okay, so my energy type is a generator, and what that says is that the generator's purpose is to create good energy in the world. You literally generate good energy, and I feel like that is so me. Like I just feel like I was put here to be a positive light for people. That's what I feel like God called me to do on this earth. So I felt like that was super aligned for me, and I really enjoyed that. The second thing is my authority, and what that means is like where I make decisions from. So, for example, my friend that I was at lunch one day with a friend, and she was saying that she knows all about her human design and that it helps her make decisions and things like that. And uh her authority, where she makes decisions from, is in her spleen. So her spleen, oh my god, does anybody this just made me remember something. I feel like I'm talking to a friend right now, so I hope y'all are enjoying this yap session. But did any of you guys watch the Love is Blind episode where it was uh the one in the UK and he was saying that he made decisions from his spleen. This is what he must have been talking about. He everybody made fun of him because he like listened to his spleen, and this must have been what he was talking about. But my friend also gets decision making from her spleen. So essentially, she will be in the moment with somebody, she'll hear an intuitive thought, and then it kind of just goes away. So that is because of her spleen. So she has to be really in tune with what's happening, where she is, how she's feeling, what thoughts she's having, because the thought will leave her if she doesn't listen to it right then and there. I am a sacral authority, which means that I get my decisions from my gut. I have this gut feeling, this gut reaction to say, this is what I should be doing, this is how I should be moving, I should say this, I should talk to this person. Just this morning I was at the gym and there was a new girl. I'd seen her in our class, like it was the second time that she was in a class with me. She's new to the gym, so she was asking all of these questions, not to me specifically, but I was just there listening to her ask all these questions. And then I felt the urge to talk to her, and so I I kind of ignored it, and then I felt the urge to talk to her again, and I ignored it again, and then whenever I was leaving the gym, she was walking out right in front of me, and I was like, Okay, God, I hear you. I I understand you're telling me I'm supposed to talk to this girl, so I did. I don't know why. It was just a quick conversation. Hey, how'd you enjoy the class? Will I see you at tomorrow's class? Like, nothing special about that conversation whatsoever. But for some reason, God was putting it in me. My gut was telling me that I should speak to this girl. I don't know why, but that is the difference between what my friend has, where her spleen tells her what to do, and me being a sacral authority, my gut telling me what to do is minus persistent. If I don't listen the first time, it will keep coming up. It will keep saying, Listen, Laura, you are supposed to be doing this. And I appreciate that. I'm glad I'm a sacral authority because I definitely want that uh persistence of like, yeah, you are supposed to be doing this. I feel like I need multiple touch points to be able to trust that this is what I'm supposed to be doing. Now, my profile type is a five-one. I'm the challenge solver, and I can't remember what the one stands for. Each of those two numbers stands for something. It's like five-one. And I can't remember what the one stands for. And I'm just gonna be honest, I didn't pay for this app to be able to learn more about it. I was just like, whatever I can get from it is what I can get from it. I'm not gonna pay for it extra, at least not right now. Maybe one day I'll feel like I have the urge to do that. But for now, I'm just paying for I'm just I just did the bare minimum whatever I could get for free. So the five in the five-one profile means that I am quote unquote the liberator, which means that people see me as somebody who can help them. I want to help people, and people want my help, is essentially what that means, which I feel like is so amazing considering the career that I've chosen to do. Both of them. I chose to be a teacher and now I'm choosing to be a coach, and I really do feel like that is so in alignment with who God called me to be when he put me on earth. You know what I mean? Like it says that you love to help people, whether it's strangers or loved ones, you value everyone equally, and because of this, you are naturally outgoing, and people subconsciously sense that they that you can help them and guide them or lead them, which I just think is so beautiful. And I love that God called me to do that. I love that I am somebody who people see as someone who can help them because that is what I want. I do want to help people. That's literally why I have this podcast, why I do the work that I do, because I just want people to get the help that they need. I just want people to feel good about themselves and feel good in their bodies and all the things. And so it feels nice to know that not only do I want that, but other people see me as somebody who can help them with that. So thank you for seeing me in that way, and thank you for seeing me as that person. There's a couple more that I want to talk about. I'm kind of skipping around, but it says that my manifestation process is specific, which means that if I really want to bring something into my reality, I'm calling something in to be something that I experience in this real world versus just imagining it, then I need to be very specific with what I want to experience and what I want to feel and what I want to see. Like when I envision it in my brain, I need to get really specific. What type of clothes am I wearing? What do they feel like? What um is the scent that I have that I'm wearing that day? What does my hair look like? Like it's all these little fine details. If I'm manifesting a new home, what type of finishes are on the door, what type of what's the trim molding look like? Like all of the little tiny details. And it's really, like I said, validating because I am a person who wants to know the details. When I like I want you to pay attention to emails that I send out of whenever I'm talking about, like, hey, seismic shift is open, here's what you get. I'm gonna tell you so many details. And that's because that's what I want. And I think that this is also as somebody who is a business owner and is and does help people in this way, it's really nice because now I can realize, like, okay, not everybody is specific, not everybody needs to know every single detail. And for some people, that feels really overwhelming. That might be your personality type, it might be your manifestation process, is that you get really overwhelmed by all of the details, and you just need the big vision. I want the minute details in order to make something feel like it's a a real thing for me. So that's one thing I wanted to share. And then the biggest one, this has been the biggest light bulb moment for me, is that I am a quote unquote non-emotional person. And when I first read that, I was like, WTF, do you mean? I am the most emotional person. I literally last night we were watching an uh episode of The Office. We've been watching that show for a very long time, trying to get through it. My husband knows everything that happens in that show, like he can literally tell you what the entire episode is about, little quotes from it just from seeing the title of the episode. I've never watched it all the way through. So we were watching an episode last night, and Jim and Pam, if you've never seen it, this isn't gonna mean anything to you, the names, they have two kids. And Jim had taken this week off of work. He like lied about it and said that he was at jury duty, but he took a week off so that he could be at home with Pam because she was feeling really overwhelmed with their two kids. Eventually, everybody found out about it. So he brings Pam and the kids into the office to show everybody that he was sorry, and the kids drew pictures and all this stuff, and everybody was like, Yeah, we're not buying it. So they were like, you know what, let's just get the kids out of here, let's leave. This obviously isn't working, everybody's just gonna be mad at us for a little while, whatever. And then the kids start crying, they're going crazy, and and they're like the two parents are kind of like freaking out, and they're like, Okay, you handle this one, I'll handle this one, and they're like teamworking together and all this stuff, and it was like emotional. The kids were feeling emotional, and the parents were clearly overwhelmed, and everybody in the office is just watching them handle this situation, and I'm bawling, like I'm literally watching this so emotional, and really, I don't know why I was crying. My husband was like, What is wrong with you? Why are you crying? I was like, I don't know, it was just a very emotional experience watching them do this, and so that's me in a nutshell. I'm gonna cry at the silliest, tiniest little thing. I just am a I'm a wear my heart on my sleeve kind of person. That's why these episodes are called on my sleeve because I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I want you to see that, I want you to know that, I want you to experience that and feel that with me. But when I read this and it said you're non-emotional, I was like, that makes no sense. I'm clearly very emotional. What non-emotional actually means is that you don't make your own emotions, you get your emotions from what's going on around you. And when I heard that, I was like, it literally was like that emoji where the brain is like like exploding, like your head's exploding, where you're like, Oh my god, yes, that makes so much sense. Like, I could not believe whenever I heard this, I was like, Yep, that's so me. Essentially, it just means you're empathetic. Like, if you were to put it in one vocabulary word, empathetic. But to me, it was like so much deeper than that. I was like, this is why when I go to a football game and everybody around you is cheering and they're so excited, I start crying because I'm feeling so overwhelmed by all of the positive emotion in this atmosphere that I start crying. Like, this is why I am the way that I am. It felt like so much validation. And it was very validating too of why, whenever I am in a stressful situation where I'm like surrounded by a bunch of people who were feeling the stress in this situation, why I start to feel stress. Like if I'm watching somebody who they on social media even and they're feeling stressed or they're feeling overwhelmed, I start to feel that too. And I have to just put my phone away because I'm like, why am I taking on this person's stress? I don't even know them. And this is why, because I'm non-emotional. And when I heard that, I was like, Yes, this makes so much sense. I want to keep you guys updated on what's been recently going on with my group coaching program, Seismic Shift, all of the updates and changes that are happening behind the scenes and how those things impact you. As you know, I am a forever learner. I am always trying to make the program better, help you guys get better results from being in the program and make it more and more accessible and life-changing for you. So, with that being said, for this current round of the program, I have done something a little bit different. Typically, I help my clients set specific goals for nutrition, exercise, water, and mindset every single week. This round, I decided that I was going to give them goals for what exactly to work on. Because what I realized was I was in a program myself not too long ago, and I was asked, what are you gonna work on this week? And I was like, I don't know what to work on. I'm here so that you tell me what to work on. And that's whenever I realized my clients also need to be told what to work on. You're here because you don't know what to work on. That's why you're investing in a coach. Inside of the program, you are going to have week one goals, and I'm gonna tell you exactly what to work on for your nutrition, exercise, water, and your mindset. Every single week, I am going to be guiding you in exactly what to work on in those areas of your health and wellness. There are going to be variations of the goals so that if you already are doing some of these things, there's still something for you to work on. But the overall intention is that I am taking you from being completely lost when it comes to health and wellness, not really doing much for your health and wellness, and also feeling like you know what to do, you're just not doing it, to actually implementing all of these things that you knew you should be doing all along. And I'm guiding you through that. You're not going from zero to a hundred in a month. You are taking your time slowly integrating these new habits with food and exercise and water into your day-to-day so that by the end of the time in the program, you have completely transformed your life, but it didn't happen overnight, so it's totally sustainable. Also, as a part of this program, there will still be live calls with me, multiple live calls a week, as well as the group chat, which is where so much magic happens. You get to ask questions in between the calls, you get to share your wins, you get to cheer other people on. It's a really supportive environment. I always bring the best girls into the group, if I do say so myself. And then I am also going to be adding recipes into this program. This is something that previously had been separate. It had been a completely different program, but I am merging these two programs now so that you get the weekly goals as well as the live calls, as well as the group chat, as well as the recipes all in one. And the beautiful thing about this is the monthly price is going down. So it's going to be less than$90 a month for you to be inside of this program. And I am just so thrilled to get to bring this to you. The doors will be opening later this month. So make sure that your name is on the wait list because those people are going to know first they're gonna get the best deal to join the program, and they're going to get some bonuses as well. So make sure that your name is on the wait list. You can find the information for putting your name on the wait list in the show notes down below or by going to behealthyhabits.com slash seismic dash shift. Now, the my human design also tells me things like where I digest food the best, which I digest food in direct light best, and I love sitting outside to eat, so I thought that was very interesting. My husband, his is he digests food in indirect sunlight the best, so like sitting in the shade. So I'm glad that we at least both digest food best sitting outside. I feel like that's a really nice thing that we have in common. But so I I was talking to another friend yesterday about this same thing, and she says that there's like so many other I just thought because I was direct sunlight and he was indirect sunlight, that those were the only two options, but there's a ton, like one of them was buzzing atmospheres, so like. Her friend works best in like very loud chaotic environments, or sorry, that's where she digests food best in loud, chaotic environments. I was like, What? That's crazy. So there's a lot of different options for that one. And then the other one that I wanted to share was the environment that I thrive in, the places that I thrive in. And this one for me is passive mountains. That means two things. The mountains aspect of it means that I literally thrive best in elevated environments. So whether that be up on a balcony, whether it be in actual mountains, somewhere where like I am physically separated from other things and I am high and elevated. And it could also mean, in an in a way, it could also mean that I thrive best in environments where I am feeling elevated. Like I feel like I am being pushed to be better and pushed to be stronger and smarter, a better version of myself. And that is definitely true too. But what it like the true meaning of it is that you were I work best in environments where I am elevated, I'm off the ground in some way or another. So, like for example, a really good place for me if I was to um like we kind of want to stay living near the beach, probably. We live in Florida right now, and we kind of want to stay near the ocean, not in the mountains, but we could always um get a house that has like a balcony that is high off the ground. So I could work like I could we could buy a house that's like on stilts or whatever that's called, and you're like lifted off of the ground some, but also having an environment to work in where I can like look out over things and oversee things is really beneficial. So one day I would love to have an office where I have like a big wall of windows that overlooks something, maybe the ocean, maybe a yard or whatever that may be. The passive piece of it though means that I thrive best in still quiet environments, and that is so freaking true for me. Like I if I go to a coffee shop to work, I am not going to get much done there. I am going to be looking around everywhere, I'm gonna be seeing what's up with people, I'm gonna be distracted as all get out. But if I am just in a quiet environment by my house by myself, I don't need to have a TV on, I don't need to have music playing, none of that. I will be so distracted. So quiet, still environments is where I personally thrive. So I appreciate knowing this about myself because for a little while that's one that I kind of felt guilty about, or like felt like something was wrong with me. Like, why can all these people go to coffee shops and work and I can't? And now I understand why, because that's just not me. It's just not who I am, and that's okay. We're all unique, we all have different qualities that make us us. So thanks for listening to this episode about my human design. And if there's anything that you if you end up doing your human design again, the app that I downloaded is called A Line. And if you end up downloading it, all you have to do is put in the date that you were born, the time you were born, be as exact as you can, and the location that you were born. And if you put in all that, you get your your design out and it will tell you some things about yourself. And I'd love to hear what your human design is and what shocked you about your human design. I think that it's so interesting now learning about this, and I've since looking at it, had multiple conversations with people about it, and I always it's been fun just to explore everybody's different human designs and learn more about people. So thanks for tuning in to another episode. I appreciate you being here, and I look forward to seeing you again next week on the regularly scheduled Wednesday episode. Thank you so much. I can't wait to see you again next week. And always remember the more you know, the more you grow.
